Orders ship from Eyeweb in 7-10 days OR LESS after we receive your order and verify your prescription. The main factor in the fabrication time are the lens options such as transitions, or anti-reflective treatments. All orders ship via standard US Postal First Class service with delivery confirmation.
We ship standard orders via USPS First Class mail with Delivery confirmation. Customers in the Eastern US will receive orders 1-2 days after shipping, 2-3 days for Central US and 3-5 days for West Coast customers. Outside of the US varies but typically 5-10 days after shipping.
Your eyeglass prescription is a series of numbers that describe the lens power needed to correct your vision. The prescription usually has two rows, one for your right eye and one for your left. Up to four columns of data can be used to describe your power formula.
O.D. refers to the right eye.
O.S. refers to the left eye
SPH or Sphere refers to the amount of spherical error for your eyes, measured in quarters and proceeded by a (+) or (-).
CYL or Cylinder describes astigmatism, a refractive error that causes distorted and blurred vision, measured in quarters and proceeded by a (+) or (-).
AXIS indicates the orientation of astigmatism (Cylinder), measured in degrees 1 to 180.
ADD or NV meaning Near Vision is used for multifocal or reading correction, measured in quarters. This power for bifocal or progressive lenses enlarges immediate vision and is therefore always indicated by a positive sign (+).
PD or Pupillary Distance refers to the distance in millimeters between the center of one pupil to the center of the other. Also see the "How to read a prescription" icon on the ADD LENS page.
PD, or pupillary distance, is the distance in millimeters between the center your left and right pupils. Your PD is sometimes recorded on your prescription. (Many doctors avoid including the PD so that you can’t shop online.) If not, you can calculate your PD using our calibration strip, see HOW DO I CALCULATE MY PD page.
The Eyeweb site includes a highly accurate digital PD measurement tool which is much more reliable than an optician with a manual PD ruler. You simply download and print the PD INSTRUCTIONS, cut out the fitting pad and place on our forehead, take photo and use the online tools to measure your PD.
Our software uses the history from thousands of orders to generate a standard distance based on the size of your frame selection. In general, about 60% of the lens height is reserved for distance vision and 40% for near vision. If you have a specific preference that is comfortable for you, let us know in the Add extra information box while entering your prescription and we will customize for your preferences.
